COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
ENGAGING THE COMMUNITY IN SHAPING OUR CHILDREN’S EDUCATION
For El Paso to successfully increase educational attainment, the community must come together to engage in local decision making and advocate for the types of changes that will increase the quality of instruction in the region. As parents and community members, CREEED understands that the region must build on that commitment and become more involved in the decision making process within our schools and school districts. Research shows that when parents and community members engage with education systems, the benefits extend beyond test scores.
Working with community partners, CREEED identifies initiatives that can help our region increase student educational attainment. We continually engage organizations that have been successful at mobilizing parents and community members across the spectrum of education, from becoming school board members to understanding that any student can apply to any free public school in the region that has implemented open enrollment. An informed and empowered community makes our education system stronger and can influence the pace of change and reform accordingly.
