BOUNCING BACK FROM THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
As a region, we are quickly learning that the COVID-19 pandemic had a significant negative impact on El Paso’s education system, creating a gap in learning, and setting students back on their educational journey. Initial test results from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) show that many more students in our region are not meeting state standards in math and reading, which suggests they may not be prepared to succeed in the next grade level, high school and, eventually college.
CREEED remains committed to ensuring all students in El Paso receive the education they need to pursue a college degree. We urge parents and community members to join us in asking education leaders for effective solutions that reverse the effects of the pandemic on student learning and get all students back on track to college. We also ask you to support and acknowledge where successful programs are being implemented. The following questions will help parents, guardians, and community members have meaningful discussions with principals, superintendents, and school board members about their COVID-recovery plans:
