{"id":10993,"date":"2024-05-29T12:00:27","date_gmt":"2024-05-29T18:00:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.creeed.org\/?p=10993"},"modified":"2024-05-31T14:13:13","modified_gmt":"2024-05-31T20:13:13","slug":"sylvia-hopp-san-elizario-college-scholarship-awarded","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.creeed.org\/es\/2024\/05\/29\/sylvia-hopp-san-elizario-college-scholarship-awarded\/","title":{"rendered":"SYLVIA HOPP SAN ELIZARIO COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">San Elizario High School senior awarded scholarship to help cover expenses at the University of Texas at El Paso<\/span><\/i><\/h3>\n<p><b>El Paso, TX<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> &#8211; CREEED awarded its 2024 Sylvia Hopp San Elizario College Scholarship to graduating senior Marisol Saenz at this year\u2019s San Elizario Rose Ceremony.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Saenz is the seventh recipient of this prestigious scholarship and plans on attending the University of Texas at El Paso and majoring in psychology with hopes of becoming a psychologist. During her time at San Elizario High School, Saenz was vice-president of the school\u2019s National Honors Society, a member of the National Technical Honors Society and Business Professionals of America, participated in UIL creative writing competitions, and was a member of the school\u2019s mariachi group. Additionally, she has volunteered for El Pasoans Fighting Hunger and a variety of other organizations in her community and is graduating with a 4.7 GPA.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cMarisol Saenz has maintained a high level of academic achievement throughout her time at the San Elizario Independent School District and is personally and academically accomplished,\u201d said<\/span><b> former San Elizario ISD Superintendent and chair of the scholarship selection committee Sylvia Hopp.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u201cShe is representative of the excellent students that San Elizario ISD fosters and we are proud to announce Marisol as this year\u2019s scholarship recipient. She joins a high-performing group of students who have been able to attend the higher education institution of their choice thanks to CREEED\u2019s scholarship and support of students in our region. We look forward to witnessing her future successes.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Sylvia Hopp Scholarship Fund was established in 2017 to honor former San Elizario ISD superintendent Sylvia Hopp\u2019s contributions to improving educational attainment in the region. The Fund will award a total of $20,000 in scholarships to help graduating seniors from San Elizario High School with a $2,500 scholarship to cover tuition and other costs associated with attending and completing college. To date, CREEED has contributed $17,500 in total to past recipients.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cCREEED\u2019s Sylvia Hopp San Elizario College Scholarship provides financial support for an exceptional student in our region to attend college and complete a postsecondary education,\u201d said <\/span><b>Eddie Rodriguez, CREEED\u2019s Executive Director. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cMarisol has demonstrated exemplary commitment to her education and community and we are honored to support her journey to receiving a degree in psychology.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In addition to supporting high-performing El Paso students pursuing and obtaining a college degree, CREEED also supports public school district initiatives that prepare all students to be college- and career-ready by the time they graduate high school, including the expansion of dual credit courses, STEM programming, and teacher development programs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For media requests, please contact <a href=\"mailto:media@creeed.org\">media@creeed.org<\/a>.
