School Board Trustees are locally elected public officials entrusted with governing the public schools within the school district they represent. School board members have five major responsibilities:
- Direction for the school district
- Establishing an effective and efficient organizational and governing structure
- Providing support
- Ensuring accountability for how schools and students perform
- Providing community leadership as advocates for children, the school district, and public schools
The good news is that school board trustees work for you. When a school isn’t meeting your child’s needs, you can engage with school board trustees to find better solutions. As stated on the National School Boards Association website, “Your school board is accessible to you and accountable for the performance of the schools in your district.”
To find out which School Board Trustee represents your area, click here to search the El Paso County Elections Department website using your home address, then click on “Independent School Districts” in the list. We have also listed them below. Click on each Trustee to find contact information.
