YOUNG ACHIEVERS FORUM
CREEED is a proud supporter of the Young Achievers Forum, a partnership between the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), New Mexico State University (NMSU) and Community en Acción (CEA), a local civic organization of leaders dedicated to instilling Hispanic pride in the community. This annual event brings together over 1,000 6th-8th grade students from all across the greater El Paso and southern New Mexico areas to provide first-hand exposure to a college campus. |
At the annual forum, students are exposed to four broad career fields throughout their visit: STEM, Health/Medical Sciences, Business/Finance, and Liberal Arts. The program brings middle school students and their parents to campus for a day of inspiration, motivation and education. Parents also receive information on what they can do to help prepare their children for post-secondary education.
Each forum begins with an opening session, and then participants rotate in groups through a series of presentations delivered by more than 100 professionals volunteering to speak about their careers. Presentations take place in classrooms around campus with more than 100 university student volunteers serving as guides to the middle school students throughout the day.
The goal of this program is to provide middle school students with the knowledge and desire to follow their dreams and to gain an understanding of why the right education is important to achieve those dreams.
