Connecting Regional Workforce Needs with Increased Educational Attainment

In December 2022 the Business Roundtable along with the Texas Business Leadership Council and Texas Association of Community Colleges announced the creation of the Workforce Partnership Initiative-Texas (WPI) with an initial focus on connecting learners to good jobs in the Dallas, El Paso and San Antonio regions.

WPI is a Business Roundtable national priority focused on accelerating access to competitive, ready to work learners with in-demand skills and increasing businesses’ hiring and upskilling, particularly of diverse, traditionally underrepresented populations.

To kickstart this effort, in February 2023 CREEED, partnered with the El Paso Community College  and the Borderplex Alliance, to hold our first solutions-based, business-led roundtable conversation on strengthening the education to workforce pipeline in El Paso

Funded by the JP Morgan Chase Foundation, Workforce Partnership Initiative-Texas is working to build and embed industry-aligned credentials into community college programs to strengthen pathways into the workforce.

This work is strongly aligned with CREEED’s focus on increasing regional economic prosperity through increased student attainment for El Paso students.  We look forward to continuing our work with WPI, local business leaders, EPCC, state and regional partners to ensure greater success for El Paso students and businesses in our region.
