(El Paso, TX)– On Tuesday, Nov. 7, The El Paso ISD Board of Trustees approved a new memorandum of understanding with CREEED. This partnership paves the way for eligible teachers in the district to receive $2,000 to pursue advanced academic degrees.
CREEED’s Accelerated Certification of Teachers (ACT) scholarship fund, will provide funds directly to El Paso ISD to support requests from eligible teachers who are in the process of obtaining an advanced degree needed to teach college preparatory courses and programs, including dual enrollment and early college classes. CREEED launched this $1M fund in 2015 to expand access to early college courses for students across El Paso County, and the recent vote from the El Paso ISD Board of Trustees will expand previous efforts between both organizations.
“This agreement with CREEED supports our commitment of promoting academic excellence within El Paso’s District,” El Paso ISD Superintendent Diana Sayavedara said. “It demonstrates our commitment to equipping our educators with the tools they need to provide high-quality educational experiences for our students. We are grateful to CREEED for their support and are pleased that we are leveraging our community partnerships for the benefit of our students by making an investment in our teachers, who are at the forefront of our vision to inspire and empower learners to thrive.”
The initiative aligns with the district’s commitment to supporting and investing in the professional growth and development of its educators. This partnership creates a scholarship fund providing financial assistance to eligible teachers, further facilitating their academic growth and enhancing their capacity to teach dual credit courses.
“CREEED is proud to partner with El Paso ISD to continue making investments in their dual credit and early college classes,” said Eddie Rodriguez, Executive Director of CREEED. “With these future grants and our previous grants to EPISD, we will be able to add up to 50 teachers in the district teaching dual credit classes. We hope to continue this partnership, so all students are able to get a headstart on college.”
